Heather Huey x

Last Thursday, fashion celebrated the opening of New York-based milliner Heather Huey's two new collections and ten day pop-up shop at Building Fashion. Located at 504 W. 24th Street under the Highline, Huey paired with the design firm Urban A&O to convert the HL23 tin into an art installation space with a wall of retail. The first installation, Cocoon, consists entirely of scrap felt meticulously sewn together to create organic body sculptures and headwear. In the second, titled Asylum, Huey revisits her widely recognized black cage collection (worn by Daphne Guinness and Lara Stone), this time the exoskeletons are entirely in white.

Blog Off

Fashion bloggers posting portraits of themselves in cool ensembles has become the norm, but now a select group of online darlings are wearing a garment that carries more gravitas than usual. You see, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it also marks the 10th anniversary of Ralph Lauren's Pink Pony foundation. In honor of the occasion, the philanthropic designer, who also founded the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative over 20 years ago, has enlisted 100 bloggers to snap pics of themselves wearing the latest Pink Pony polo. Those who are participating in the stylish assignment include savvy online scenesters such as Tavi, Nitrolicious, the glam squad from Refinery29, and many more.

Pass the Prada...

In the early 20th Century, Mario Prada (Miuccia's grandfather) traveled the world in search of precious materials, exotic leathers and luxurious fabrics, as well as to discover craftsmen for the company's accessories.  The first Prada products (bags, suitcases, gloves, walking sticks, bottles and glasses) were made by Alsatian and Austrian leather artisans, Bohemian crystal-makers, English silversmiths and Italian artisans, making the entire collection truly global. Using Mario's original approach, the brand's new "Made in..." project collaborates with many different artisans around the world to produce exclusive styles. A subtly altered label will even indicate the specialized region, like denim from Japan, beautiful textiles from India and wool from Scotland.

Passionate fashionista forever - Anna Dello Russo

Once described by Helmut Newton as a "fashion maniac", Anna Dello Russo is currently the Editor At Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan.

After seeing photo's of her looking unreal - getting ready for the Masquerade Ball celebrating VOGUE PARIS’ 90th Anniversary for Paris fashion week. I decided to pay homage to her personal style on Belle a Coco. Enjoy!

Model of the moment....Julia Johansen

I am loving Model of the moment, Julia Johansen! The Finnish model has perfect freckles, pouty lips, and stunning eyes and is in fact, the girl who inspired the look for the entire Mulberry Spring Summer 2011 Collection. Mulberry Creative Director Emma Hill spotted Johansen at the label's casting day and was instantly smitten; 'Julia walked in, wearing a Metallica T-shirt and converse. And I thought "that's it". She has this upturned look to her mouth that seems quite mischievous, like she has a secret'.

Her look was so important they gave all the models a uniform look on the catwalk of "The Julia", a choppy blunt-fringed long bob wig. I want one!!
